Why anticipate a decline in the Washington Wizards?
The three-headed monster of John Wall, Bradley Beal and Otto Porter Jr. continues to be trending upward. Each guy is moving toward his athletic prime and building chemistry with the other members of the triumvirate while trying to maintain himself as a highest talent in his respective place. Wall is currently there, and another two are not far behind.
And if you are concerned about the bench, don’t be—not for the reason you may anticipate.
Last year’s second-stringers were atrocious. They routinely wasted leads and dug inescapable holes to the starters. This season’s bench collection should not be much better, as Tim Frazier, Jodie Meeks and Mike Scott aren’t exactly marquee additions. And that is almost irrelevant.
The non-starters are poor. We are aware that much. However, the starters are still in place, along with the Wizards published an 8.1 internet rating last year when Wall, Beal, Porter, Markieff Morris and Marcin Gortat were around the ground together. Even with the putridity behind them, they dragged their troops to 49 wins.
So again, why should we expect anything else this year, especially when the team was in the second half of through the season’s opening salvo?
